As many of my patients know I am always talking about the sun and sun protection.
Most importantly the sun can cause skin cancer but it is also the single biggest external factor that causes premature ageing of the skin.
Photo ageing causes wrinkles, textural changes, loss of firmness, vascular and pigmentation changes. Despite this many of my patients continue to use sun-beds.
I think this is an extremely interesting action that MP Pauline Latham has taken following Australia and Brazil’s lead.
SPF and UV protection is extremely important. I will discuss sun protection in my next blog.
